Your water network produces electricity
Turning excess pressure in drinking water networks into clean, local energy.
Off Grid Energy & Water AS provides energy recovery solutions for drinking water networks, transforming surplus pressure into renewable electricity while enhancing water security, energy resilience, and emergency preparedness.
Proven international experience
The technology is successfully deployed in drinking water networks worldwide, with installed capacities ranging from 15 kW to 2,626 kW. These installations demonstrate a scalable and reliable approach to generating renewable electricity from existing water infrastructure.
Technology partner and reference supplier: GUGLER Water Turbines GmbH, Austria.
The image shown is a concept illustration. Each project is individually engineered and optimized based on site-specific hydraulic and operational conditions. Water turbine systems are delivered as fully integrated plug-and-play solutions, enabling rapid and efficient installation.
Selected GUGLER installations
These drinking water installations are examples from GUGLER's wider international portfolio. Installed capacity describes rated electrical power (kW). The figures for annual energy (kWh) below are theoretical maxima calculated at rated output for 8,760 hours; they are not measured annual production.
| GUGLER installation | Installed capacity | Theoretical annual generation |
|---|---|---|
| Suba, Bogotá | 2,626 kW | 23,003,760 kWh |
| Usaquén, Bogotá | 1,810 kW | 15,855,600 kWh |
| Bogotá combined | 4,436 kW | 38,859,360 kWh (38.86 GWh) |
For water supply resilience, site-specific turbines may supply local power to controls and circulation or pumping equipment where hydraulic conditions permit. Operation during a grid outage requires suitable electrical design, protection, controls and, where needed, battery storage and backup power. Required flow, pressure and drinking water quality must be maintained.
